Restaurants
Maine restaurants include seafood shacks, neighborhood dining rooms, bakeries, cafes and places for a longer evening meal. Start with where you will be and the kind of service you want. A counter lunch before a ferry and a reserved dinner after a day in town call for different choices.
Choose the Maine region and meal occasion together. Portland supports a city food itinerary; the southern coast pairs dining with beach towns; the Midcoast adds harbor and town stops; and Bar Harbor belongs to an Acadia visit. Inland meals are part of a different route through the state. Narrow the town first, then compare a breakfast cafe, a seafood stop and a full dinner within that plan. A restaurant in a neighboring town remains a separate destination, even when it appears in a broader directory.
