Guide
Portland Sea Dogs, Maine: Plan a Game at Hadlock
A Portland Sea Dogs game gives a Maine city break a whole afternoon or evening around baseball. The Red Sox Double-A club plays at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field, on Park Avenue. Choose the game first, then fit parking, food and the rest of Portland around its start time.
Which kind of game day fits your trip?
Give baseball its own block of the day. Hadlock works particularly well when everyone has already had enough of getting in and out of the car: a seat, a field and something happening in front of you are a welcome change. Go for the game and the ballpark, with the rest of Portland arranged around them.

Our three-day Portland itinerary is a useful framework for a longer stay. Put the game on the city day and keep the ferry outing on another; each deserves time without a dash across town at the end.
What makes Hadlock worth the outing?
The ballpark opened in 1994. Its natural-grass field and compact, old-style architecture suit the scale of the city. The Maine Monster, built in 2003, borrows Fenway Park's left-field idea and its 37-foot height. Beyond center field, a lighthouse rises when the Sea Dogs hit a home run or win. Those are the two details to point out to someone attending a first game.
The Sea Dogs are Boston's Double-A affiliate, so the attraction for a baseball fan is partly seeing players on their way through the system. For everyone else, the game supplies a shared focus for a few hours. Choose a seat and settle into it; the evening can be as simple as that.
Hadlock sits at 271 Park Avenue. Save the waterfront wandering for the Old Port, and use our Portland activity guide for the day's other stop. The ballpark address belongs in the arrival plan, separate from the address of a downtown hotel or dinner reservation.
When do 2027 tickets go on sale?
The Sea Dogs' October 16, 2026 announcement sets the 2027 single-game on-sale date for Saturday, November 7, 2026. Sales at the ballpark begin at 9 a.m.; online and telephone sales begin at 10 a.m. The announcement also lists five-, ten- and 20-game plans for people planning repeat visits.
For a single holiday stop, begin with the official individual-game ticket page and its seating chart. Choose the date that fits the stay, then the seats. A game is a substantial part of the itinerary, so leave the evening clear of a tightly timed dinner afterwards.
Mobile entry uses the ticket in the ticketing account; screenshots are not accepted. Open the tickets on the phone while approaching the entrance. The ticket office handles retrieval problems. For an overnight, compare Portland hotels by the part of the city where you want to spend the rest of the trip.
Where should you park?
The October 2026 parking arrangements offer several choices. USM Garage 1, at 88 Bedford Street, has a separate Sea Dogs parking product booked for the game date. The university garage works for a group willing to include a walk. Fitzpatrick Stadium's lot is adjacent to the field, with entrances from Park Avenue or Deering Avenue.
The 995 Congress Street lot, the medical-building garage entered from Forest Street and the King Middle School lot are available after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day at weekends. Those three options are unavailable for noon weekday games. Choose the parking arrangement with the same care as the start time, especially for an afternoon visit.
Accessible parking is beside the Slugger statue, requires a valid placard and fills in arrival order. Some nearby curb spaces are restricted to residents. Use the team's parking page for the lot map and game-date booking. Keep the walk from the selected lot in the group's arrival plan.
What can you bring, and what happens at the gate?
Gates open 90 minutes before the scheduled start. Entry includes security screening. The permitted bags are medical bags, manufactured diaper bags accompanying babies or young children, and small clutches up to 4.5 by 6.5 inches. All are inspected. Carry the day's shopping back to your accommodation first.
Outside food and drink are prohibited; empty, nonglass water bottles are allowed. Have a meal beforehand or buy food inside. Our Portland lunch guide helps with a daytime start, while the restaurant guide suits a meal planned well ahead of an evening game.
Ordinary re-entry requires a new ticket once a spectator leaves. Finish errands before admission. Wear layers for an outdoor evening and bring sun protection for a daytime seat; the Maine packing list covers the rest of a coast trip. Keep attention on play when balls are moving toward the stands.
How does Hadlock work for families and access needs?
Wheelchair seating is sold through the ticket office, in person or by telephone, rather than online. The published arrangement permits up to four companions with the spectator using that seating. Make that booking the first part of the group's plan so everyone can sit together.
Guest Services has sensory kits with noise-reducing headphones, anti-glare glasses, a communication card and fidgets. A private nursing space is also available through Guest Services. Changing tables are provided in the concourse's men's and women's restrooms, alongside a separate family restroom. Blind and low-vision visitors can use the Aira visual-interpreter service at home games.
For children with little interest in baseball, let the outing be shorter. Our Maine family-trip guide helps balance the wider holiday, and the Children's Museum guide supplies a different Portland day. A full museum visit and a full game are two substantial activities; spread them across the stay when that suits the family.
What happens if rain changes the game?
A postponement decision has no fixed announcement time. Once play begins, the umpires decide whether it continues. Status changes appear through the Sea Dogs' website and official social channels.
Under the published rain policy, a game ending before five innings, or four and a half with Portland ahead, allows exchange for another remaining regular-season game, subject to availability. The replacement can be a different date from the rescheduled game. Tickets are not refunded. The official rain-policy page contains the exchange arrangements.
For a short visit, keep a second city plan available. The Portland Museum of Art is one option for an indoor outing on another part of the day. Our Portland and Casco Bay guide covers the wider stay. Let the weather change the shape of the trip without filling every spare hour.
