Why Eat

Why The Travelin Lobster, LLC

The Travelin Lobster is a seasonal counter-serve stand run by people who actually fish. You order at a small building, grab a seat outside under umbrellas or by one of the fire pits, and eat some of the freshest lobster rolls and dinners in Bar Harbor. Don't expect frills. Expect meat so fresh it overflows the bun.

  • Lobster so fresh it spills out of the bun
  • Owned and run by actual fishermen
  • Crab roll crust-to-meat ratio is spot-on
  • Fire pits, umbrellas, and reasonable prices

Menu

What to order

Start with a large hot lobster roll stuffed to bursting. The crab roll is worth ordering again and again if you want to branch out. The 1.5-pound lobster dinner comes with corn and steamed mussels and fills you up without pretense. The blueberry pie with blueberry ice cream is a perfect closer. Try the sampler three-roll dinner if you can't pick. Bring cash for a small discount.

Atmosphere

The room

Outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas, fire pits to warm you on cooler days. It's casual, friendly, and built for eating in the sun. Closes at sunset.

The kitchen keeps things focused: hot and cold lobster rolls in three sizes, lobster dinners with corn and steamed mussels, crab rolls, and a few sides. They use restraint with the mayo. The blueberry pie with blueberry ice cream shows they care about finish. One recent visitor called it "the best lobster I had while in Maine." Cash gets you a small discount. They close at dusk.
